What the tech pack contains
How to use this template
A beanie is the smallest tech pack you will ever write — and a good test of discipline, because with one size and a handful of measurements, every remaining spec (yarn, gauge, rib structure, crown decrease) carries the entire product. Most beanies are one-size, so the grading table collapses to a single column; the yarn and structure rows do the talking.
Beanies are specced by yarn, not fabric: 100% acrylic for value, wool-acrylic blends for warmth at price, merino or lambswool for premium. A 2x2 rib in a mid-gauge yarn is the standard commercial beanie; chunky 3gg reads artisanal. State whether the beanie is knitted flat and seamed or knitted in the round — the seam is visible.
Total length folded and unfolded, flat brim width with the target head-circumference range, cuff height, crown construction, the rib structure, and a full yarn spec — fiber, count, gauge, and color with Pantone reference. Usually one size, so no grading table.
By the relaxed flat width plus the rib structure's stretch. Spec the flat width and the head range it must fit (for example 55–60 cm) so QC has a testable target at both ends.
Yes — the woven patch is usually the only branding on the product. Spec its dimensions, position on the cuff measured from the fold, and the attachment stitch, or every sample will place it differently.
